Asus ROG Ally 2 Surfaces with Xbox-Branded Version

New images of the highly anticipated Asus ROG Ally 2 handheld gaming machine, have leaked online through regulatory documents, showing two different versions of the console.

The leak is highlighted by a black version with a dedicated Xbox button that appears to be part of a partnership. In the standard white version, the button is either missing or hidden. The black version is likely a console branded by Xbox, with the console long suspected to be part of a development collaboration between Asus and Xbox.

In regards to hardware design, the ROG Ally 2 features more rounded controller grips (replacing the earlier model’s sloped edges), which gives the console a slightly thicker and sturdier look, as well as better ergonomics and feel for longer gameplay sessions.

The fact that these units are now being sighted in official certification channels indicates that release window is imminent. With a slew of tech and gaming events coming up and a visible hardware showcase at the end of May, it is reasonable to predict that the ROG Ally 2 could be unveiled at that event.
The emergence of two units — and possibly an Xbox Cloud Gaming optimized version — demonstrates a marriage to the portable hardware gaming market where well-performing portable hardware is pushing with momentum across an increasing size of gamer population around the world.
As details continue to emerge, the ROG Ally 2 looks poised to be a top player in 2025’s gaming hardware series of products, increasing choices not only within an ecosystem, but ergonomically too.
