Netflix Home Screen: Unveils a Redesign in 12 Years
Netflix is preparing to launch its most significant overhaul of its home screen in more than a decade, saying it wants to improve the customer experience with a more elegant design and smarter content discovery capabilities. The new interface, called “Eclipse,” will begin a global rollout on May 19, 2025, for most televisions and streaming devices.
Key changes include a refocusing of the navigation bar to the top of the Netflix home screen, so as to provide for easier access to Search, Shows, Movies, Games, and My Netflix. This simplifies the previous sidebar menu method of navigation.
The new homepage also features dynamic content tiles that expand on hover to include synopses, run time, awards, cast details, etc. Tags like “Emmy Award Winner” and “#1 in TV Shows” will be made prominent to help assist users in making informed choices when viewing contents and so they can tell the worst clutter.
The rollout of these updates will occur in phases over the coming weeks and months, with users receiving a welcome message upon activation of the new interface. Netflix plans to continue refining the experience based on user feedback.
