Denzel Washington’s Surprise Award: At the screening of Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest, Denzel Washington unexpectedly received an honorary Palme d’Or, after being honored by Palmer Winner’s Campaign. Highest 2 Lowest, a contemporary update of Kurosawa’s High and Low with Washington as a broken music producer who becomes embroiled in a kidnap plot.
