WhatsApp App for iPad: Meta Launches Long-Awaited iPad App

Meta has officially launched a dedicated WhatsApp app for iPad, bringing long-awaited support for iPad users. The new app is now available for download on the App Store.

This is the first time users can fully enjoy WhatsApp app for iPad without resorting to workarounds. The app includes audio and video calls with as many as 32 people. It also supports screen sharing and the front and back cameras.
The iPad version uses iPadOS features such as Stage Manager, Split View and Slide Over. This means users can be chatting in WhatsApp and be multitasking with another app simultaneously — such as reading or watching something on the web. That’s a big win for multitasking on the iPad.
To use it, users only need to connect their iPad to an existing WhatsApp account. Where to chat and where to share is even simpler with automatic syncing of all chats and media across devices.
WhatsApp teased the release earlier this week with a sidelong glancing eyes emoji on its official X (ex-Twitter) account. The post was light on details, but the app’s surprise launch today has caught many by surprise.
Meta, too, is said to be working on an iPad-optimized edition of Instagram. But there’s still no word, officially, on that project.
With this update, Meta is finally addressing the requirements of modern iPad owners of WhatsApp. It’s a serious victory for anyone who relies on a tablet for both work and staying in touch with friends and family.
