Trump Extends TikTok Ban Deadline by 90 Days

Trump Extends TikTok Ban Deadline by 90 Days.
President Donald Trump has extended the timeline for TikTok’s user experience in the United States by 90 days. The Chinese company now has more time to settle national security and privacy issues.
The previous order allowed 45 days for TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to sell the app’s U.S. operations. The extension is an advantage in transaction negotiation.
U.S. government officials are concerned that TikTok could share data about its users with the Chinese government, and that poses a concern for national security. ByteDance has denied such claims.
While the discussions continue with ByteDance, negotiations with U.S. companies Oracle and Walmart are ongoing, with varying time pressure to control the functionality of TikTok’s U.S. assets.
Trump has stated that he wants a deal that protects U.S. users and any data they provide. He also wants, as part of the deal, some sort of financial benefit to the U.S. Treasury.
As of now, there is not yet any agreement. TikTok is still operating inside the U.S., while negotiations continue.
The 90-day extension gives everyone more time to work out a deal and come up with a solution, but the future of TikTok in the U.S. has yet to be determined.
For now, all users can continue to use the app, while the pressure remains on TikTok to address the U.S. demands.
