Apple Unveils iOS 26 with Revolutionary Liquid Glass Design

Apple today previewed iOS 26, a major update that brings a beautiful new design, intelligent experiences, and improvements to the apps users rely on every day. The announcement came at WWDC 2025, marking Apple’s software rebrand coming to fruition.

Apple iOS 26 and More….

Apple has introduced an incredible visual overhaul for iOS 26, adopting a new digital ‘material’ called Liquid Glass. The company has referred to its changes as “the most expansive software design change we’ve ever made,” featuring translucent buttons and greater AI functionality.

Both liquid glass and semi-translucent things like redesigned widgets, notifications, and others promise a focus on transparency and fluidity across all screens.

Enhanced Apple Intelligence Features

iOS 26 improves Apple AI behavior significantly. It’s an update focused on more AI features, including a battery management feature and additional “smart” behavior. Each of these changes will improve iPhones’ abilities to respond intelligently to user needs.

To save images, the new software will improve Siri prompts and provide smarter app suggestions. Overall, Apple has extended the system’s machine learning behavior throughout the operating system.

New Apps and Features

With the release of iOS 26, Apple introduced a number of new applications and features. Among them is a dedicated gaming app to give iPhone users a better gaming experience on mobile devices. Central to the update is a new Phone app and a new Messages app with exciting new ways to stay in touch.

CarPlay, Apple Music, Maps, and Wallet all received exciting improvements. Some features are more ways for users to quickly choose their profiles, and they will allow users to select a profile quickly when waking the device.

Device Compatibility

You can no longer expect iOS 26 this fall if you use an iPhone 8 or iPhone X. This is because Apple is officially dropping support for all 2018 iPhone models. If you currently have a newer iPhone, it will support the iOS 26 update.

The compatibility list for iOS 26 includes devices that give the best possible performance for the supported devices. Be sure to pay attention to your device eligibility before the fall release.

Release Timeline

iOS 26 will enter beta testing with developers immediately following WWDC 2025. A public beta is expected in July 2025. The final release is scheduled for September 2025, coinciding with new iPhone launches.

Apple’s developer community can access beta versions through the Apple Developer Program. Public beta testing will allow broader feedback before the official launch.

Mixed Reception

Apple’s new “Liquid Glass” design is facing backlash for prioritizing aesthetics over usability, with critics suggesting Steve Jobs would have never approved the change. Despite criticism, Apple executives describe the changes as “delightful” and “gorgeous.”

The tech community remains divided on the visual overhaul. Some praise the modern aesthetic, while others question practical usability.
