Chinese J-10C Fighter Jet: Advanced Technology and Global Interest

The Chinese J-10C, nicknamed the “Vigorous Dragon”, is a 4.5-generation multirole fighter aircraft manufactured by Chengdu Aerospace Corporation of the People’s Republic of China as a fighter for air-to-air and air-to-ground roles. The J-10C utilizes advanced technologies that will enhance tactical capabilities.

China says may market J-10C fighter jets in Middle East as aerobatics team goes to Dubai Airshow.

Technical Features

Engine

The J-10C uses the WS-10 Taihang, a domestically developed turbofan engine with good thrust and performance distribution.

Radar

The aircraft is armed with an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar for superior target detection and tracking of targets for effective beyond-visual-range engagements.

Avionics

The multi-role fighter has a digital glass cockpit, fly-by-wire flight control systems, and sophisticated electronic warfare suites to help maintain pilot situational awareness and aircraft survivability.

Weapons

The Chinese J-10C is capable of carrying multiple types of weapons including PL-10 short-range and PL-15 long-range air-to-air missiles, as well as precision-guided munitions, to attack ground targets.

Global Operators

China: The People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) deploys the J-10C as part of its modern air force fleet.
Pakistan: In 2022, the Pakistan Air Force added the J-10C to the fleet to strengthen its air-to-air combat capabilities, a notable enhancement from the previous fleet.
Potential buyers: Countries such as Egypt, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Bangladesh are interested in possible purchasing of the J-10C as a result of its advanced capabilities and low cost.
The J-10C represents an advanced avionics package, powerful engine and selectable munitions combine to offer a new alternative in the competitive market of Western fighters such as F-16 and Rafale. The overall lower price point and China’s willingness to sell the aircraft add to its attractiveness for countries looking to modernize their air forces without the associated costs of Western aircraft.
