Chris Brown Arrested in the UK Over Alleged Nightclub Assault

R&B singer Chris Brown has been arrested in the UK following a bottle attack that allegedly occurred at a London nightclub in 2023.
The 36-year-old singer was arrested at a hotel in Manchester in the very early hours of Thursday morning. He is being held on suspicion of bodily harm to music producer Abe Diaw following an incident at Tape nightclub in Mayfair.
According to The Sun, the publication learned of Brown’s whereabouts in the UK on Wednesday and contacted the Metropolitan Police. Officers subsequently confirmed that they had arrested a man matching Brown’s description just after 2:00 AM on 15 May.
A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody.”
Police said the arrest is related to an incident that took place on 19 February 2023, at Hanover Square, which is currently being examined by detectives from the Central West Area Command.
In 2023, Mr. Diaw claimed in an interview to The Sun that Brown hit him in the head with a bottle, before punching and kicking him as he lay on the ground. He said he required hospital treatment for a serious knee injury as a result of the attack. He also required crutches to walk after he was discharged.
Brown, who has been in the limelight since around 2005, is arguably best known for songs Run It, No Air, Beautiful People, Under The Influence and Turn Up The Music. He is currently on tour and is performing in a number of venues in the UK in June and July.
Brown’s representatives have not yet issued a public statement regarding the arrest.
