
Cristiano Ronaldo has indicated he has completed his time with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, sending shock-waves about his next move in his career. After Al-Nassr’s last match in the Saudi Pro League, whereby the team lost 3-2 against Al-Fateh, Ronaldo shared a cryptic post on social media.
“This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”
Ronaldo is a 40-year-old Portuguese striker who joined Al-Nassr in late 2022. He scored an impressive 99 goals in 111 matches in all competitions, but Al-Nassr could only finish 3rd in the league and won no major trophies during Ronaldo’s stay.
Ronaldo’s contract with Al-Nassr expires at the end of June, and he has not signed a contract extension. Speculation related to his next stop has begun, and it includes some clubs competing in the FIFA Club World Cup later this summer. FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated there are talks for Ronaldo to play for a club participating in that tournament, which begins on June 14 in the United States.
Possible sites of speculation include Brazilian clubs like Palmeiras, Flamengo, Fluminense, and Botafogo, all entering the Club World Cup. A transfer to Major League Soccer (MLS) has been mentioned, possibly having a reunion with long-standing rival Lionel Messi, who is currently with Inter Miami.
Ronaldo has not yet revealed his next step, which both fans and analysts will be anxiously watching to see where the next chapter digs into his pleasure full career and goes even further.
