Google Launches ‘Doppl’: An AI App for Virtual Outfit Try-Ons

Google has launched Doppl, an experimental AI-powered app that allows users to virtually try on clothes using only a full-body photo. It is part of Google Labs and assists in rethinking how we shop and envision fashion online.

How it works: Users take a photo of their full body and upload pictures or screenshots of outfits from e-commerce sites, Instagram, or any other place. Doppl builds a true-to-life preview of the outfit being worn on the user’s body and even includes an AI-generated snippet of video for the user that allows them to see how the clothing may look in motion.

“Doppl is an experiment in making online fashion more interactive and personalized,” said Google Labs in a blog post.

Who can use it: The app is available in the U.S. and is free to users 18 years or older with a Google account. Available on both iOS and Android.

The impact: Doppl has the potential to disrupt shopping practices for consumers because it reduces uncertainty while purchasing apparel online, which may lead to returns and transform sustainable e-commerce.
