Google Wallet is losing access to PayPal

Google wallet is going to stop allowing payments with your PayPal account. On a help center page spotted by Android Authority, Google mentioned that the payment option will be removed and all PayPal accounts linked to the wallet will be deleted on June 13th, 2025.

Google Wallets Exits PayPal?

The company stopped allowing users to connect PayPal accounts to Wallet as of April 11th. So, any user who depended on PayPal to quickly connect their payment details to Google Wallet will need to enter a card, credit, debit, or bank information manually to continue using the app.

In an update to users last year, PayPal first announced that it was no longer going to let users connect their accounts to wallets.

“PayPal is continually evolving our offerings to provide customers with smart, flexible and more rewarding ways to pay,” PayPal spokesperson Taylor Watson.”

At this time, customers wishing to use PayPal as a payment option in their Google and Samsung Wallets will need to add their PayPal Debit Mastercard.”

Users will still be able to check out with PayPal on the Google Play Store and other Google services. However, if you have a linked PayPal account for recurring payment, Google advises that you’ll need to switch your payment method on the merchant’s side to continue using the service.

G-Wallet will also will no longer show a user’s PayPal transaction history, which will need to be accessed on PayPal’s website or app instead. The PayPal integration of Google Wallet will still work for German users.

PayPal’s version of Google Wallet — originally Android Pay — launched in 2017. Like PayPal, its competitor continues to change too. In Germany, the PayPal app has also added tap-to-pay on iPhones and has added a method for groups to pool money.
