Duchess is one of the secret characters in the Elden Ring Nightreign, with some work required to unlock her. Unlike many Nightfarers, she does not start available at the beginning of the game.
Here’s a Simple Way to Unlock Duchess in Elden Ring Nightreign
You must complete the Tricephalos expedition to unlock Duchess. Once you complete this expedition, you will receive the Old Pocketwatch item, which is a key item associated with Duchess. You may also receive this relic from failed attempts; in the event that you do, then you unlock Duchess immediately.

Once you obtain the Old Pocketwatch and then must go to the Priestess at the Roundtable Hold (she is located to the left of the main expedition table). You provide the Priestess the Relic, which unlocks a brief cutscene to reveal Duchess. Afterwards, Duchess is unlocked at the shrine just like the other Nightfarers.
Duchess characters have high dexterity and intelligence. It is very fast, and does tremendous burst damage with her Restage skill. Duchess has low defenses; therefore, proper timing and positioning is crucial.
The Tricephalos is the first significant expedition in Elden Ring Nightreign, but don’t expect it to be easy. It’s likely you’ll have to attempt it multiple times before you’re successful. Plus, beating it opens up brand new game mechanics, and uncovers yet another hidden character, Revenant.
