Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Draws Huge Crowds

Nintendo has launched the Switch 2 worldwide. Fans lined up at stores to get the new console. In Tokyo, many gathered at Bic Camera in Ikebukuro. Only lottery winners could buy on launch day.
Yumi Ohi, a fan from Saitama, was so excited. “I think I’m going to cry,” she said, right after she got her console.
Switch 2 has a larger screen than the last model and better graphics. The console has the same hybrid feature as the previous iteration. The hybrid console was released with new games, including Mario Kart World.

Nintendo has sold over 152 million original Switch consoles since 2017. The company hopes to sell 15 million Switch 2s in this fiscal year.
Pre-orders quickly sold out in places like Target in the United States, and over 2.2 million people entered the sales lottery in Japan.
Nintendo plans to ramp up production. There is some worry about there not being many launch titles, but excitement is still high. “I wanted to buy the Switch 2 right away,” said hotel worker Shinichi Sekiguchi.
