Salesforce Acquires Informatica in $8 Billion Deal

Salesforce has officially acquired cloud data management giant Informatica in a landmark $8 billion equity deal, signaling a major leap in its AI infrastructure and enterprise data capabilities.
Salesforce Closed Deal with Informatica
Announced on Tuesday, the acquisition came after speculating for months and after Informatica denied being in acquisition discussions in early 2024. Salesforce will pay $25 for each share for Informatica’s Class A stock and Class B-1 common stock, plus the amount of its existing ownership of Informatica.
Informatica is a data management cloud-native company founded in 1993. As of the time of sale, it provided cloud-native data management services to over 5,000 customers in 100-plus countries, and had a market cap of $7.1 billion.
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said the deal will enhance the company’s core platform, especially Agentforce, Data Cloud, MuleSoft, Tableau and Customer 360, especially as Salesforce are continuing to advance its enterprise-first AI ambitions.
“Together we will be equipping autonomous agents to act with cognition, context, and confidence across every enterprise,” said Benioff.
According to the company’s news release, the move reinforces Salesforce’s positioning in the AI and data governance race, enabling the infrastructure to scale AI agents in a safe and responsible manner, and at scale.
Despite acquisition bumps along the way—both stocks fell in April 2024, after the initial reports—Salesforce has transformed what was speculation into a tangible, strategic reality.
