Wednesday Season 2: Spooky, But Lacks the First Season’s Spark

Netflix’s Wednesday is back for a second season—and while it still offers mystery, mischief, and gothic delight, it doesn’t quite recapture the charm that made Season 1 a standout. Wednesday Season 2 has a spooky feel but lacks the first season’s spark.

What’s Good?

Once again, Jenna Ortega absolutely steals the show as Wednesday Addams. Her dry, sardonic wit and deadpan expressions are still an absolute standout. The gothic styling remains rich in aesthetic, as does the new setting with new mystery. The supporting actors provide some depth, and there are plenty of clever plot twists to keep things moving.

What is Not So Good?

The writing feels a bit stretched, and some story threads feel emotionally bland or have not been paced as tightly as in season one. Visually, the show still looks great, but characterization feels rushed in places, and it lacks some of the magical “newness” that seemed to exist in the original season.

If you enjoy gothic teen mysteries or liked Season 1, it is still a fun watch. There is still the creepy charm, dark humor, and Ortega’s performance to enjoy. If you were hoping that the season could deliver the same impact as Season 1, you might be a bit disappointed.
