Xring O1: Xiaomi Unveils Snapdragon Rival Mobile Processor

Xiaomi has unveiled the Xring O1, their first mobile processor counting as self-developed. This is a crucial milestone in Xiaomi’s self-sustaining tech journey. The Xring O1 is a 3nm chip made by TSMC, and will debut in the upcoming Xiaomi 15S Pro and Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra launch event on May 22, 2025.
The Xring O1 employs a deca-core Arm Cortex CPU with 2 Cortex-X925 cores at 3.9 GHz and a16-core Mali G925 GPU. Benchmark results show performance on-par with devices with Apple A18 Pro and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
This launch is part of a wider move by Xiaomi to lessen dependence on external chipmakers like Qualcomm and MediaTek. the company has allocated about 13.5 billion yuan ($1.87 billion) to develop the Xring O1, and will commit another 50 billion yuan ($7 billion) over the next decade to grow its semiconductor capabilities.
With the Xring O1 launch, Xiaomi joins a limit group of global tech players – including Apple and Huawei – that design its own mobile processors in-house. Xiaomi will gain additional autonomy of its hardware ecosystem, and better position to compete in the premium smartphone segment.
The launch of the Xring O1 underscores Xiaomi’s commitment to innovation and its ambition to become a major player in the global semiconductor industry.
