YouTube to Bring VEO 3 AI Video Generator to Shorts

ouTube has announced it will bring VEO 3, Google’s advanced AI video generation model, to Shorts later this summer. The update was revealed during a keynote at the Cannes Lions event by YouTube CEO Neal Mohan.

Currently, Shorts creators can use the older VEO 2 model through Dream Screen to create AI-generated backgrounds and short clips. With the arrival of VEO 3, creators can expect improved video quality and new features, such as audio integration. While exact details were not shared, the inclusion of audio and high-quality visuals suggests a significant upgrade in creative tools for Shorts users.

Mohan did not confirm whether using VEO 3 within Shorts will require a subscription. At present, VEO 3 is only accessible through Google’s AI Pro or AI Ultra paid plans. It’s still unknown whether this requirement will extend to the Shorts platform. Google has not issued an official statement regarding pricing or availability for Shorts creators.

This move marks a broader push by YouTube to make Shorts a more dynamic and creative space. According to Mohan, YouTube Shorts are now generating more than 200 billion views per day, indicating massive user interest and growth potential.

The addition of VEO is expected to give creators new tools to produce engaging and visually compelling content. As short-form video continues to grow in popularity, AI-generated visuals and audio could play a key role in helping creators stand out.

With VEO 3 set to arrive in Shorts soon, users can look forward to enhanced AI-powered video experiences that could reshape how short content is made and shared.
